Mussoorie

MussoorieNestled amidst the Himalayan heights of Uttaranchal, India, Mussoorie was established in 1832 as one of the summer stations of the erstwhile British rulers of India. The high peaks and spots in Mussoorie provide a splendid view of the entire Doon valley, including the picturesque Dehradun town. Rising 7000 feet above sea level, this town, famed for its beautiful pine forests and snowy winters, is a spot popular with nature lovers and honeymooners.

Tourist Attractions at Mussoorie

Lal Tibba is the highest spot in Mussoorie. A visitor gets a view of the beautiful valleys and snow-covered peaks from here. The Mall, with shops and restaurants, is a place bustling with activity. The Tibetan Temple, in the aptly named Happy valley, was built by the Tibetan refugees in Mussoorie. Mussoorie lake, 7 kilometers away on the Mussoorie-Dehradun Highway and overlooking large parts of the Doon Valley, offers boating facilities to tourists. Camel's Back is a picturesque road leading from the Mall towards the beautiful pine forests of Mussoorie. Lake Mist, 10 kilometers away, is a clear, shimmering lake with hotels and guesthouses close to it. Mussoorie is also famous for its heritage hotels, like the Charliveli, more than 100 years old, and Cloud's End, built in the 1830s. Cloud's End got its name from its location at the edge of a cliff, overlooking a sheer drop.
