Historical Tour of Rajasthan
A carefully designed Rajasthan tour itinerary to explore the exquisite and fascinating culture, history and scenic grandeur of Rajasthan - colorful desert state of India. The Rajasthan tour showcases the rich architectural heritage of Mughal and Rajput monuments, palaces and fortresses alongside the natural beauty of golden desert landscapes, oasis and a tiger reserve.
Day 01:
Delhi/Jaisalmer
Arrive Delhi and flight to Jaisalmer. Arrive Jaisalmer and overnight at hotel.
Day 02:
Jaisamer/Pokhran
Explore Jaisalmer on foot. Cut off from civilization for centuries, this is one of the last known citadels where the 21st century has made few intrusions, and wide variety of crafts are still in practice. Afternoon, drive to Pokhran (100 kms) to stay at the fort. Pottery and decorations for camels are made here.
Day 03:
Pokhran/Jodhpur
Drive to Jodhpur (180 kms) with sightseeing in the afternoon. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04:
Jodhpur/Rohet
Visit Mandore, and then continue to Rohet (45 kms) with its charming fort where you stay. In the afternoon, a jeep safari to the surrounding Rabari and Bishnoi villages.
Day 05:
Rohet/Daspan
Drive to Daspan village (150 kms) where the fertile fields grow bountiful crops and the village is known for its embroidered shoes. There are also some families that make bows and arrows in the Bhil style. Stay at Durjan Niwas Castle.
Day 06:
Daspan/Siyana
Continue into farming country, to Siyana (40 kms). Stay at Thakur Ganpat Singh's farm with its stable of Marwari horses.
Day 07:
Siyana/Sirohi
Across the flat, irrigated lands of Sirohi (35 kms), drive to leopard's lair at Bera. There is a large settlement of Rabaris in the vicinity. These migrants move around, but this permanent settlement has well-kept, clean homes.
Day 08:
Sirohi/Ranakpur
Drive to Ranakpur (100 kms) with its 16th century temples, stay at Maharani Bagh amidst an orchard, and with Gerasis dancers performing in the evening.
Day 09:
Ranakpur/Devgarh
Drive to Devgarh (85 Kms) to stay at the Mahal or palace. Spend evening at the lakeside farmhouse of a local chieftain.
Day 10:
Devgarh/Udaipur
Drive to Udaipur (140 kms), stay at a choice of deluxe palace hotels and do the sightseeing.
Day 11:
Udaipur/Dungarpur
Drive to Dungarpur (120 Kms) with its Bhil villages all around. Stay at the magnificent Udai Vilas Palace.
Day 12:
Dungarpur/Chittaurgarh
Drive via Chittaurgarh fort to Bijaipur (225 kms), the base for the Mina tribes. The village is located beside a lake.
Day 13:
Chittaurgarh/Kota
Drive to Kota (250 kms). Stay at Umed Bhawan/Brijraj Bhawan or Sukhdham Kothi. Do local sightseeing.
Day 14:
Kota/Bundi
Drive to Bundi (40 kms) for sightseeing of fort, and Raniji Ki Baori stepwell. Continue to Rajmahal, a 300 year-old palace with the village named after it. The palace overlooks the river below.
Day 15:
Bundi/Pachewargarh
Drive to Pachewar village (120 kms) and its restored fort or Garh, flourishing agricultural practices, toy makers and a blue pottery klin.
Day 16:
Pachewargarh/Jaipur
Drive to Jaipur (90 kms) and sightseeing there. Stay at a choice of palace and heritage hotels.
Day 17:
Jaipur/Bhandarej
Drive to Bhandarej (75 kms) and stay at Bhadrawati Palace. The village has lovely setting beside a lake and Mina settlements around it.
Day 18:
Bhandarej/Karauli
Drive to Karauli (150 kms), known for its pink stone quarries and the Kaila Devi temple. Stay at Bhanwar Niwas Palace.
Day 19:
Karauli/Bharatpur
Drive to Bharatpur (150 kms), stay at Laxmi Vilas Palace. Visit bird sanctuary, and visit the old fort with its incredibly invincible mud bastions.
Day 20:
Bharatpur/Agra/Delhi/Departure
Depart from Bharatpur to Agra (45 kms) On arrival visit Tajmahal and Red Fort. Evening train to Delhi and transfer to airport for international flight.
