Wildlife Around Taj Mahal

Wildlife Aroud Taj Mahal

The beautiful and breathtaking Taj Mahal is also a perfect tourist destination for wildlife, birds and nature lovers. Nearby the Taj Mahal you find the famous wildlife sanctuaries, bird sanctuaries and national parks in the neighbouring state of Rajasthan. Not to be missed by you during your Agra/Taj Mahal tour are the Ranthambore, Bharatpur and Sariska wildlife reserves.

These national parks and wildlife reserves offer an ideal refuge for the tourists interested in clicking the exclusive snaps of wild animals especially roaring/preying/yawning tiger, a mischievous monkey/lemur or roosting birds; catching a glimpse of a deer herd and various rare bird species including the migratory Siberian cranes from Siberia.

Ranthambore National Park and Sariska National Park are national parks as well as a tiger reserves under the Project Tiger scheme in India. These national parks are rated as two of the best tiger reserves for having a close view of the tiger and enjoying the adventure of a jeep/elephant safari. Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary are home to more than 500 species of Indian and Asian birds. The development of this bird sanctuary gained momentum by the efforts of famous ornithologist of India - Dr Salim Ali.

Bharatpur bird sanctuary has earned international acclaim as it is the only place in India where the Siberian cranes migrate from Siberia covering the vast distance from Siberia to India in winters. Why is it so? Why only Bharatpur in India? The answers to these questions are still under the scrutiny of ornithologists, environmentalists and naturalists.

The wildlife around Taj Mahal covers the following national parks:

Ranthambore National Park      Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary     Sariska National Park
